Lightbox Originals, formerly Literary Lightbox aims to inspire writers worldwide to live an accomplished writing life by sharing advice, tips and opportunities through various online platforms. We were approached, being an established branding agency, to update their current blog brand identity.
To achieve their marketing position as “a special place for writers” they required a brand refresh. Therefore, we agreed to take inspiration from the Danish concept of Hygge, a cosy way of living by finding joy in simple things. However, as Lightbox Originals was a British business, the new brand required a British twist.
Crafting a blog brand identity
Our brand refresh for Lightbox Originals takes a minimalist approach. Consequently, this approach allows the imagery to capture the essence of Hygge living to inspire writers to live their best writing life. In addition, the pastel colour palette is a nod to the the brands ‘kind to nature’ values and adds an established aesthetic to aid visual credibility.
Before we began our creative process, a logo was already in place using the former name, Literary Lightbox. Their audience had already shown interest in the concept, so naturally we decided to develop it further. The bulb and fountain pen logomark, re-imagined using simple geometric forms, now sits proudly next to geometric sans serif typography, a font style with British influence.
Developing a blog using the new brand identitiy
The website is the lifeblood of the Lightbox Originals community. It clearly displays articles in digestible sections to help writers find what they’re looking for.
Efficiently adding and editing content on the website was paramount. To achieve this, the website utilises the WordPress CMS incorporating a custom-built theme unique to Lightbox Originals. Furthermore, by using our bespoke plugins to augment the WordPress platform, literary audiences can easily discover content tailored to their interests.
100 Words Campaign
100 Words is a technique to achieve writing goals one small step at a time. We launched this campaign at the same time as the blog and brand identity reveal. The goal was to promote engagement with the new brand and raise awareness. It consists of a campaign logo, digital guide and progress calendar, available for free to registered users.
